What does P0401 mean?
P0401 means the exhaust gas recirculation system is not flowing as much exhaust back into the intake as the engine computer expects. EGR lowers combustion temperature to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Insufficient flow is usually carbon build-up blocking the passages rather than a failed part.
